How Committed Are You to “Winning”?

How committed are you to “winning”? Almost every leader will say things like: “Very!” “I’m all in!” “One hundred percent!”
Those are words. But what does it look like in practice? Ruthless consistency. Leaders who are ruthlessly consistent are leaders who build organizations that win. Ruthless consistency means that everything you say, everything you do, everything you don’t say and everything you don’t do is aligned with “winning,” however you define that.
More specifically, it means developing and sustaining the right focus so that everyone in your organization understands what you’re striving to accomplish, why, how, and how it translates to what you expect of them.
It means creating the right environment, an environment that enables your team to perform at their absolute best. An environment in which they are equipped, coached, supported and valued.
And it means building the right team, a team with the capabilities to win. That means more than just knowledge and skills, more than just experience. It means having the traits associated with winning, traits like taking initiative, perseverance, and resilience.
What drives all of this is you having the right commitment, the commitment to be ruthlessly consistent.
Let’s be clear. “Ruthless consistency” doesn’t mean robotic repetition. It’s not about mechanical activity performed without variation or without creativity. I’m not suggesting we submit to the tyranny of consistency.
What it means is a consistency of purpose, one constantly reflected in your decisions and actions. It means that everything you do—as varied and creative as that might be—is consistently aligned with your purpose, your intentions. Because the relentless alignment of intentions, decisions and actions is the foundation of success.
How committed are you to “winning”? Committed enough to be ruthlessly consistent?

Make it happen.
